Álvarez Gómez is due to the effort and enthusiasm of León’s three first cousins, who changed their destiny by moving to Madrid in 1899 to learn the perfume business.
They began to work in the drugstore of an acquaintance where they spent all day working and when the night came they slept in a room in the store, after a while, the owner of the drugstore decided to retire, so the cousins took advantage to stay with the business.
ALVAREZ GOMEZ THE PERFECT FRAGRANCE
In 1905 they moved to a new premises on Calle Sevilla nº 2. next to Puerta de Sol, it is at this time when the new name of the Álvarez Gómez fragrance house appears where they sold cosmetic preparations, elixirs and perfumery products in bulk. . Its clients included members of the royal houses, politicians, nobles, bullfighters, artists, but also hard-working people from the town. Many families used it as an antiseptic to prevent infectious diseases.
The back room of the new premises was used as a place for meetings and gatherings with their friends, clients and business travelers and it was in 1912 when one of these travelers contributed a formula of eau de cologne of central European origin, whose essential components were purely Mediterranean.
The founders, lovers of the pure smells of the countryside, of flowers and plants, decided that their colony had to be like this: clean, refreshing and pure, this is how Álvarez Gómez Concentrated Cologne Water was born in an artisanal way.
The fragrance is a harmonious combination of natural essences of Spanish Levante Lemon (with purifying and toning properties) Mediterranean Lavender, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Rosemary, Bergamot, Geranium are some of the aromatic essential oils used in concentrated eau de toilette.
